This last week I had a whirlwind of a week in NYC..... heres my top tips, from food to shops to trips out the city.... 

Food... as in London, NYC offers some incredible places... from Soho to Williamsburg, East village to Brooklyn. 

Calaca Brooklyn - a tiny Mexican place serving great Margarita's and some top noch Mexican food! Get there early to avoid disappointment - its a really small place and they stop serving food at 9pm... 

In East Village there are a ton of tasty looking places but we ate at Hanoi House which was delicious and topped of by a good Vietnamese coffee to satisfy the sweet tooth.

The Butcher's Daughter in Soho was yum, with a super busy lunchtime scene. Would really recommend it for a stop of. I had some delicious quesadillas with a pesto. It was truly yum. 

Shopping.... obviously alot of people associate NYC with shopping.. here are some cool stores I stumbled across/ was recommended. 

The Frankie Shop - 100 Stanton St - nice line of clothing and jewellery

A Piece Apart - 403 Broome St - really nice clothing, baskets, jewellery

Off Season - 92-12 Rockaway Beach Blvd - awesome store at Rockaway beach, nice line of jumpsuits some really cool bags, great selection of beauty products/candles and sandals from Greece. I really liked this store

Mociun - 683 Driggs Avenue - beautiful shop with amazing fine jewellery

Aurelie Bidermann - 265 Lafayette St -  again another beautiful jewellery store

Designers from NYC to watch - Mara Hoffman - I bought a jumpsuit from her and its amazing. 

I also really enjoyed a beautiful train ride up the Hudson to Beacon. Here there is an amazing Art Gallery called Dia. Rockaway is also great and has some good surf! Oh and don't forget to pop into MoMa too - there was an amazing exhibition on Frank Lloyd Wright while I was in town...
